Ginger has a warm pungent and peppery flavour that is biting, yet sweet and warm. It is quite spicy with a slight woody flavour. The main bioactive compound in ginger is Gingerol which is responsible for much of its medicinal properties. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Ginger appears to be an effective treatment for many types of nausea and can help reduce pain.
